Ryuzine 64

Ryuzine64 on Floppy Disk!

The Ryuzine64 Sample Magazine is also available on 5.25″ Floppy delivered via the US Mail.

Ryuzine64™ is our new digital magazine format targeting the original Commodore 64 and 128 home computers!  You can author your own magazines with GEOS GeoPublish and export to either .d64 disk image format or write to 5.25″ floppy disk for postal distribution!

The Commodore 64 was one of the best selling computers of all time, and in the late 1980’s GEOS was the 3rd most popular operating system.  Today there are C64 emulators available for nearly every desktop platform and many mobile devices – including Android and iOS!  Therefore we thought it would be a great idea to create an 8-bit compatible version of Ryuzine for use in the emulator and on legacy Commodore systems.  Of course it also works on the new Commodore computers too!

Utilizing the SIHiRes mode the C64 screen is effectively expanded to larger sizes and multi-column display in the GeoWeb browser add-on for GEOS GeoWorks.  This VICkit browser ports some of the best features of modern browsers to 8-bit machines.  Even if you’re creating your publications with Ryuzine Machine just select “Export to 8-bit” in the drop-down, bundle the GEOS theme, and compress to a .d64 disk image.

We are also working to convert out-of-print magazines into Ryuzine64 format and will soon have an online store available from which you can download disk image file for just 99 cents each!

Note: Ryuzine64 is not compatible with classic Commodore Amiga  or PET systems.

* In case you hadn’t figured it out, this is our 2012 April Fools joke page.  While we joke about a C64 web browser, it should be pointed out that more than one actually exists and there is even web server software for the C64.  Seriously!  But this page was just for fun and because we love the old Commodore 64!
